  1. Drilling rigs/workover rigs/Drilling and well intervention rig/workover and drilling unit/well service and drilling rig

Applications:

Drilling and workover rigs are versatile pieces of equipment used in the oil and gas industry for various applications. Here are some common applications:

Drilling Operations:

The primary function of drilling rigs is to drill wells for the exploration and extraction of oil and natural gas. These operations include drilling for both onshore and offshore oil and gas reserves.

Well Completion:

After drilling, workover rigs are often employed for well completion operations. This involves installing casing, tubing, and other equipment to prepare the well for production.

Workover Operations:

Workover rigs are used to perform maintenance and remedial operations on existing wells. This includes interventions to enhance production, such as re-perforating zones, cleaning out wellbores, or installing artificial lift systems.

Well Stimulation:

Workover rigs may be used for well stimulation techniques, such as hydraulic fracturing (fracking), to improve the flow of hydrocarbons from the reservoir.

Abandonment and Plugging:

Rigs are used for well abandonment, which involves properly sealing and plugging a well that is no longer producing. This is done to prevent environmental hazards and ensure safety.

Geothermal Drilling:

Drilling rigs are utilized in the geothermal industry to tap into the Earth's heat for power generation or heating purposes.

Mining Exploration:

Some drilling rigs are adapted for mineral exploration, including the search for precious metals and minerals.

Water Well Drilling:

Drilling rigs are used to create water wells for various purposes, including agricultural irrigation, municipal water supply, and industrial use.

Environmental and Geotechnical Drilling:

Rigs may be used for environmental site assessments, soil sampling, and geotechnical investigations.

Seismic Exploration:

In some cases, drilling rigs are used for the exploration of oil and gas reserves through seismic operations, helping determine the subsurface geology.

The applications of drilling and workover rigs are diverse and play a critical role in the extraction and production of oil and gas, as well as in other industries that require subsurface exploration and well construction.
